Collective Conversation

Interactive installation

The collected objects, photos, and recorded stories were transformed into an interactive installation. Lights in the space responded dynamically to the rhythm and tone of the residents’ voices, creating a dialogue between sound, light, and memory.

Visitors could explore the photographs and objects while listening to the narratives, experiencing each story as if the residents themselves were present. The interplay of voice and illumination highlighted the personal connections to Langerbrugge/Kerkbrugge and the iconic electricity plant, turning private memories into a shared, collective history.

Through this immersive approach, the installation not only presents the community’s stories but also evokes the historical and social significance of the first electricity plant in Flanders, creating a space where memory, history, and sensory experience converge.
